Movement of stock cross border

Being close to the Border if we want to purchase stock from England what will we need to do? Will breeding stock have EID tags in them and will it be possible to put these onto our Scottish flock register?

cross border movements

Very confused! Bought sheep from England to be fattened and they are not all electronically tagged but when I take back to England to sell they have to have an electronic tag. What am I ment to do about it please?

You can move non-Scottish

There are no legislative reasons for any difference in how English Marts/Abattoirs handle sheep from Scotland as opposed to England.

You can move non-Scottish born sheep with non-EID flock tags either within Scotland of elsewhere in the UK, as long as they are still less than 12 months of age and intended for slaughter. Nevertheless if the sheep are in mixed batches it does pose real practical problems with manual reading and documentation for everyone handling those sheep subsequently.

Legally you do not have to re-tag then with replacement EID slaughter tags, however it is possible and indeed likely that there will be commercial disadvantages in selling non-EID, non-Scottish slaughter tagged lambs within Scotland, and probably elsewhere in the UK as well.

Response to Movement of Stock Cross Border

All breeding Stock should have double tags, one of which will be an EID tag. The recording requirements for sheep bought in England are exactly the same as for any other breeding stock.
Hope that answers your question but please let me know if it doesn't
