To find a workable and affordable sheep tracing system for Scotland, it is vital that the research has input from a wide range of sheep farms. Particularly important are sheep movements, whether they be to other holdings with the same keeper or changes of ownership directly to other farms, marts, abattoirs or through other CCP's (Critical Control Points)
On becoming a partner farm we would like you to be involved in at least some of the following:
● Move lambs through the marts and/or abattoirs or any other Scottish CCP's
● Identify problems, difficulties and offer practical solutions within the regulations.
● Tag lambs with electronic tags from the approved list
● Measure tag losses
● Read electronic tags with a handheld reader or fixed readers if required.
● Download Movement data where possible
● Help make the ScotEID database user friendly, with a view to reducing paperwork and red tape.
● Contribute to the forum and help with solutions - or tell us where you think we are wrong.
Every partner farm will receive assistance with EID tag costs. The project team will provide field support to help partner farms liaise with participating marts and abattoirs, with tag reading and data transfer - and with measuring tag losses.
